Alison Dean is the Owner and Director of ADECS Consultancy Services. Since establishing the business in 2019, she has been providing professional learning and consultancy services to language teachers and schools across the state.
In her twenty two year career, she has taught in leading independent schools both here and abroad, holding Heads of Department and executive roles in Languages, Curriculum Design and Professional Learning. As a Languages consultant for the Association of Independent Schools of NSW, she developed her passion for working with teachers, drawing on her Masters research and classroom experience to create relevant, engaging, and evidence-based PL for teachers of all languages.
She has over 17 years of combined experience as a writer, assessor, marker and standards judge for the NSW Higher School Certificate Language examinations, and was on the writing team for the 2024 NSW Modern Languages K-10 syllabus. She authors and presents courses on languages methodology and ICT integration for the University of Sydney and is the NSW representative on the National Association of Teachers of German. As the professional learning facilitator for NSW, she has a long-standing relationship with the Goethe Institut Australia and is a passionate and committed advocate for German language and cultural education in Australia.
She has presented internationally on languages pedagogy and delivers professional learning courses throughout NSW, primarily in the areas of assessment and curriculum design.
She has a Masters in Educational Leadership, a Graduate Diploma in Education (LOTE/TESOL), a Bachelor of Languages and in 2023, was awarded a Graduate Certificate in International Education from the University of Melbourne.
She lives with her husband and two children in North Parramatta.
