Participants will learn how to design a syllabus-aligned unit using the MARSEARS framework, developing AI-generated resources along the way.

This NESA-accredited course introduces a practical model for school-based assessment in the HSC Continuers language courses. Participants will explore how to develop and assess key language skills through explicit instruction and flipped learning strategies. The course also examines how to promote deep learning by reducing cognitive load and increasing student agency in the learning process. Additionally, teachers will learn how to harness AI tools to create tailored assessment materials and support differentiated learning.

Participants will explore current best practice in Languages curriculum design, with a focus on research- and evidence-informed approaches to planning, sequencing and coherence across a course of study.
Through guided discussion and practical application, teachers will develop a syllabus-aligned unit of work that foregrounds communicative purpose, meaningful learning tasks and clear progression of skills and knowledge. Participants will access a suite of practical resources, including sample units, editable templates, scope and sequence documentation and assessment task models, designed for immediate classroom implementation.
